I am writing this letter to explain why I am nominating my mother-in-law, better known as Mema, to be Grandmother of the Year. My mother -in-law started keeping my daughter and my nephew on her two off days when they were first born. My daughter and nephew are nine days apart in age. That was a big task to tackle on your off days. Four days after my daughter's first birthday my father-in-law suddenly passed away from a heart attack. After some time off, she returned to work to find that she wanted every minute with her family. Six months after his passing, she quit her job to keep the grandkids full time. Keep in mind that I was due with our second child in December. Without hesitation, she prepared for a third grandchild. Not many people would go to the depth that she has gone. Anyone can be made a Grandmother, but it takes a special heart within a special person to be a Mema!-Rebecca Long |
