Takayuki & Sally Kimura

Takayuki and Sally Kimura have been married for 47 years. They have 7 children and 19 grandchildren. Takayuki, 81, assists the elderly by shuttling them to and from activities. Sally, 67, volunteers at preschools, food distribution, and sings at the local hospital. Sally also won an award for her volunteer efforts at her local church, which she has helped with for 25 years. Sally received an Island Treasure award for her efforts in 2001. They are both extremely active, and Takayuki is looking forward to the Vacations Hawaii prize package... in all his 81 years, he's never been there! Takayuki was a painter for 34 years and a working foreman for 13 years, while Sally was a laundry worker. Here is what their granddaughter, Jaymie Salazar had to say in her nomination form: "My grandparents are the backbone of our family and have improved our lives by demonstrating how love and patience can build a strong family. (They) are truly an inspiration to each and every person that knows them. They are the glue that holds our family together and have taught us to be the best that we can be."
