
Jim and Joyce Staff of Vandalia, Illinois, have 3 children and six grandchildren to help celebrate their award. Jim and Joyce have a a combination of 67 years of work in the field of education, he as Superintendent of Schools and she as a classroom teacher. Both have taught youth and adult Sunday school classes and directed youth programs and mission trips. Both conduct and provide programs for Evergreen Outreach (a weekly gathering of Nursing Home and elderly people.) Jim organized the Little League and Pony League baseball programs in Vandalia, serving as commissioner of both leagues and managing teams. Also, Jim organized the Girl's Softball League and managed a team. Jim and Joyce worked with Girl Scouts as leaders of troops. The Staffs directed Vandalia's 12 month 175th Historical Celebration. Joyce is involved with Habitat for Humanity. Joyce and Jim, along with five other volunteers, conduct a weekly Bible Study at Vandalia Correctional Center. Joyce volunteers on Fridays at the Nice Twice store, which benefits "at risk" children in Fayette County. In her "spare time", Joyce has begun taking violin lessons. Husband Jim played professionally in dance bands and combos for years.
