Mrs. Young, now 83 years old, has had several careers: school teacher, nurse, writer, and artist. Currently she gives free art and writing lessons to handicapped seniors. Among her many claims to fame is a recent award as "Mrs. Alaska Senior."
  The National Grandparents Council has selected Mrs. Young as Grandparent of the year for the State of Alaska. She was nominated by several of her eighteen grandchildren.
