National Grand Parents

Grandparents of the Year for Idaho
Calvin and Lillia McCracken

"Our names are Isaac, Sedera and Colin. We are 8, 6, & 2. Our mom is helping us to write this. Our parents adopted us from the island of Madagascar. (Isaac and Sedera) we were older kids and were left in the jungle b our tribe after our father and mother died. When we were adopted and came to America to have grandparents and we did not know what it would be like. It is like Disneyland and Playhouse Disney everyday. They love us so much and Mom and Dad say they spoil us way too much. Grandpa builds things with us and teaches us how to work in the yard. Grandma shows us how to sew and do things in the house. They hug us all the time and tell us that they are so lucky. We think that we are lucky. We see other grandparents of other kids that are our friends and we know that our grandparents are very special because they waited a very long time for us. They never thought that they would have grand kids. Sometimes it makes them sad because we know that they are getting older and that we will not have them around as long as our friend's grandparents, so we spend as much time with them as possible. They read to us, and even bought us a big play fort. Every birthday they buy us savings bonds because they tell us that someday that will help us get into college and they want us to remember them for that gift and not the ones that break and go away in a few days. Last year our mom adopted another baby from the island of Madagascar and my mom says that my Grandma is 'reliving' being a mother. The baby even calls Grandma 'mama.' We would take pages and pages to tell you how much we love them, but it is enough to say that they are always there for us and we love them so much. We would like to nominate them so that they know that we are so glad that God gave them to us as Grandparents from all the way around the world! We love them."
