Grandparents of the Year for Kentucky
| Ways these grandparents have improved the lives of others: "Phyllis was a teacher. James works with community groups as a master gardener. Phyllis also works with community groups. James is a pipe fitter and Phyllis is a school librarian." About the grand child: "Desmond has been diagnosed with a form of Autism. Fortunately, Desmond is a High-Functioning Autistic Individual. We had the idea to show Desmond pictures taken by his paternal grandmother, Phyllis, and then allowed him to dictate a story to me, his mother. The result is a book that was entered in the National Grandparents Day Essay Contest." -O.W. Petcoff, ordained minister |
